On December 10, 2005, the Hellenic Cultural Institute hosted a luncheon in honor of its Founder and first President, Mr. Aris Zavitsanos, at the Monterey Plaza Hotel in Monterey.

The luncheon was very well attended and featured presentations on Aris' numerous contributions to the local community. It also served as the first announcement of the establishment of the Founder's Scholarship Fund.
